Subject matter: Enlargement of time to file and serve a reply.
The Applicant, Attorney General of the Republic of Uganda seek for Court orders enlarging time within which he can file and serve out of time a response of the main Reference to the Respondents. Alternatively, his response to the Reference filed on 11th March 2021 and served on the Respondents be validated and costs be in the cause.
The Applicant alleges to have been served with the Reference on 22nd March 2021 and intended to file and serve the response on the Respondents before the expiry of 45 days but was unable to do so due to reasons beyond control. Instead filed its response on 11th May 2021 beyond the time frame prescribed by the Court rules. That, the Respondent will not suffer any prejudice by the orders sought and in the interest of justice, it is just and equitable that the Court enlarge the time within which the Applicant is to file and serve the response to the Reference on the Respondents out of time.
