Subject matter: Extension of time to file affidavit in reply.
The Applicant, Attorney General of the Republic of Uganda seek for an order enlarging time to file and serve the Respondents affidavit in reply to a notice of motion in Application No. 29 of 2020. Alternatively, an order validating his affidavit filed and served on the Respondents. The Applicant also requests for adjournment of Application No. 29 of 2020, extension of time for the filling of supplementary Affidavits in reply to Affidavits served on him on 15th and 16th June 2021, any other Court order and costs.
It is the Applicant submission that, the Application has been filed without unnecessary delay, the subject matter is of great public importance with far reaching effects on the livelihood and wellbeing of East Africans, and administration of justice requires the substance of all disputes be investigated and decided on merits.
Further states, the error and lapses should not debar the Applicant from the pursuit of its rights. That, the Applicant is not guilty of dilatory conduct and a mistake or error on the part of counsel should not be visited on the Applicant. Applicant is ready and willing to prosecute its case, comply with orders the Court would be pleased to grant and that, it is fair, equitable, and in the interest of justice this Application is allowed, short of which, the Applicant will suffer grave prejudice.
