The Applicant alleges that the Respondent’s action by the High Court of the Republic of Uganda staying the proceedings in Miscellaneous Cause No. 32 of 2021 The Women’s Probono Initiative & Another Vs The Attorney General and Another, a case seeking enforcement of women’s right to access safe and legal abortion services and challenging the continuous stay of the implementation of Standards and Guidelines for Reduction of Mortality and Morbidity due to unsafe abortion in Uganda contravenes Articles 6(d), 7(2), 8(1)©, 118(g) and 121(e) of the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.
