Summary | The Applicant alleges that the actions, processes and decisions of the respective organs, agencies and officers of the Respondent state specifically: the President of Uganda, The Chief Justice of Uganda and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces in election of Jacob LÓkori Oulanyah as Speaker of the 11th Parliament and Anita Among as Deputy Speaker; ht President of Uganda to host his Political Party Executive Committee and Parliamentary Caucus in State House; the Swearing in of Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni Kaguta as the President of the Republic of Uganda on 12th May 2021; the deployment of the Uganda Defence Forces on the streets of Uganda before, during and after the swearing in ceremony of 12th May 2021; the decision of Uganda Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija in his letter dated 20th April 2021; the action and decision of the Chief Magistrates Court of Kampala Magistrate Grade One Asuman Muhumuza on 12th April, 2021; Deputy Registrar High Court; Secreatary Uganda Electral Commission; appointment and taking of office of Don Wanyama; naming of Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire and HW Barebe Rosemary as members of the Judiciary Council are unlawful and amount to infringements on the fundamental and operational principles of the Community which include good governance including adherence to the principles of democracy, the rule of law, accountability, transparency and the maintenance of universally accepted standards of human rights as guaranteed under the Treaty.
